Pond Rejuvenation Project done in January 2021 at Puliyil Pond, Trivandrum. Floating Treatment Wetlands System was implemented as a part of research of Karthika M K, Naveen Abraham, Minto Kanth and Advaith J Nair who had taken up this pond as their project., guided by Er. Nanma Gireesh. NestAbide volunteers helped in cleaning and implementation of the FTWs.
Er. Nanma Gireesh was a flood engineer and modeller for the project 'Flood Modelling and Simulation of Karamana river and Killi River watershed', done under the mentorship of Mr Vinod P. G., Director of GeoVin Solutions Pvt. Ltd.. The project was awarded and funded by Kerala Water Authority, Headworks Division, Aruvikkara, Trivandrum, Kerala.
Pond Rejuvenation Project done on the leap day of this year 2020. Floating Treatment Wetlands was implemented with the help of 4 energetic girls who had taken up this pond as their project. Later on, they adopted it as their own and they are still working at the sustainability front.
An old resident with very low income from Munroe Islands needed a home. We designed it under ₹3 lakhs for her. Considering the flood prone conditions of Munroe island, the design was unique including her needs and the varying land conditions. The design was submitted to the officials who are helping her out to find a kind person who would fund the construction.
We named the project 'Ammakkilikoodu' - nest of a mother bird.
